Saul started boxing in Roswell, New Mexico and was trained by his dad. Saul had his first bout against a much more experienced boxer but he was able to stop the opponent in the first round and receive a belt. After that, he knew, this was the sport he wanted to pursue. He and his dad traveled to places like Hobbs and Albuquerque, New Mexico where he competed at club shows. Since then, they have relocated to San Antonio, TX where they met Frank and Sam Randazzo. Working with the trainers, in the Randazzo Brothers Gym, Saul gained much knowledge about the “sweet science”. With many more opportunities in this bigger city (San Antonio) he feels right at home. “Saul Montes is a very dedicated youngster to the sport. With his humble attitude and his determination, he will go a long way in boxing and in life” says Sam “Santo” Randazzo (one of his trainers).
Saul’s goals in life are to have a shot at an Olympic birth and to be the Champion of the World some day. He wants to give back to his parents and family, all that they have given him, though the years.
