Welcome to the South Texas Boxing Association

Our mission: Empowering our athletes with the values of citizenship, knowledge and the pride to be a champion today and in the future.

Thank you for visiting the South Texas Amateur Boxing Association's (STABA) new site. We're still in the process of updating and making additions but feel free to look around and give us your input on what you'd like to see.

STABA is the local governing body of amateur, Olympic-style boxing for the South Texas Region. STABA is responsible for the administration, development and promotion of Olympic-style boxing in south Texas and is a non-profit organization and is managed by a Board of Directors.

STABA is governed by USA Boxing who authorizes, recognizes, and insures a total of 56 Local Boxing Committees (LBCs), which are grouped into 14 geographical regions. These LBCs, along with their coaches, athletes, and officials, form the grassroots foundation of USA Boxing and Olympic-style boxing in the United States. USA Boxing's athlete membership is comprised of both male and female boxers from ages 18 years old and up and includes senior divisons age 35 and older. USA Boxing's adult athletes compete in the 11 Olympic-style weight classes:light flyweight (106 pounds);flyweight (112 pounds); bantamweight (119 pounds); featherweight (125 pounds); lightweight (132 pounds); light welterweight (141 pounds); welterweight (152 pounds); middleweight (165 pounds) light heavyweight (178 pounds); heavyweight (201 pounds); and super heavyweight (+201 pounds). For more information check out the USA Boxing website.

Junior Olympic divisons include children from ages 8 and up with their own weight divisions and additional divisons that may be sanctioned by the LBC. More info can be found in the Official USA Boxing rule book on our rules overview page.
